RÉSUMÉ
" Dieu arrive !

ABSTRACT
" God is coming ! " Possessed priests and Hindu rites in Reunion
The institutionalised possession of a medium is an important aspect of the Hindu ceremonies of the Tamil people of Reunion. During this ritual, the medium is no longer conscious of his acts : he has become God's instrument and God has taken over his physical body. Through this physical intermediary, the divinity invoked can dance in an appropriate rhythm, walk on the cutting edge of a ritual sword and speak to the faithful. It is the establishment or a relationship between the visible world and the invisible one. Far from being seen as a psychological aberration or a pathological expression, this is a highly auspicious event for the faithful, the basis of a common belief that God makes regular appearances amongst those human beings who call on him and who are sufficiently pure.
